At a glance: PALS Ready Holiday Service Project
The Plum Area Ladies Society (PALS) will meet at the Plum Community Center at 6:30 p.m. on November 3.
The club’s service project will be filling Christmas stockings with treats for troops stationed overseas. Items requested include Granola Bars, Energy Bars, 5-Hour Energy, Individual Cookie Bags, Crackers or Snacks, Cheeze-its, Slim Jims, Pretzels, Chips, Rice Krispie Treats, Mint and gum candies, Pop Tarts, individual trail mix or nut bags, fruit snacks, lollipops, single serve powdered Gatorade, chocolate candies and Christmas candies. In addition, paper products and cash donations are collected for the Plum Food Pantry. In addition, the annual membership fee of $ 25 is due at the meeting.
For their Ladies Day Out, PALS members will meet at 11:30 a.m. on November 20 at Old Thunder Brewery in Blawnox for a facility tour and craft beer tasting. Register for the meeting.
PALS is a service and social organization open to women in Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Newcomers are always welcome to attend the monthly reunion, which is held at the Plum Community Center on the first Wednesday of each month from September through April. Life Changing Service Dogs For Veterans (LCSDFV) and Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Company (PHVFC) No. 7 have teamed up for the third annual Super Bingo.
This bingo fundraiser is scheduled for November 6 at PHVFC No. 7. Doors open at 4 pm and bingo starts at 5. Ticket is $ 10. There will be refreshments for purchase, “special” bingo games, a basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle, a $ 500 jackpot game and a grand door prize.
LCSDFV strives to provide medical assistance dogs to military veterans who suffer from (but not limited to) physical disabilities, cognitive issues, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, mobility issues as well as other limitations.
Flu vaccination clinic
Plum Creek Presbyterian Church will be holding an influenza vaccination clinic at the church at 11 a.m. on October 31 in Fellowship Hall.
