Barrhead Travel to hire 50 staff as part of holiday rebound from lockdown

The business, which operates from over 80 stores across the UK as well as online, currently employs over 500 people. He said travel demand has continued to grow by around 20% per month since the start of the year.

Jacqueline Dobson, President of Barrhead Travel, founded in 1975, said: “After two years of ups and downs, we are delighted to see the tourism industry re-emerge. Renewed travel demand has allowed us to expand our offering, expanding the team and offering expert training facilities.

“Travel demand has continued to grow by approximately 20% per month since January and we anticipate that the expertise of a reputable travel agent will be in high demand.

“This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in the travel industry and looking for a challenge with great benefits and career prospects.”

The company said the new positions will range from a travel consultant to a store manager. In addition to the recruiting campaign, Barrhead continues to offer young people the opportunity to develop careers as supporters of modern apprenticeships and the Kickstart program.

Applicants are promised access to an “unparalleled training and development program”.

The global travel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, with airlines, tour operators and hotels forced to lay off thousands of workers as borders were closed.

Barrhead Travel, which was founded in 1975, currently has approximately 500 employees.
