Here’s how UAE travelers should handle Eid Al Adha vacation, says Etihad
Dubai: As UAE residents prepare for their Eid vacation, local airlines and airports are gearing up for one of the busiest times on the calendar. Destinations such as Mykonos and Santorini in Greece and Malaga in Spain are gaining attention, with more opening by the week as travel restrictions ease.
Amid all this hectic activity, Etihad Airways has issued a travelers alert to see through the hectic season. Here are some indications:
Check destination requirements
As travel restrictions change frequently, Etihad recommends that its travelers visit etihad.com/destinationguide to check for the latest updates before travel commences.
Verified to fly?
Visit “Manage my reservation” on the Etihad portal to share travel documents related to COVID-19. The approval will be shared via email, giving passengers the assurance that all required documents are in place and allowing quick check-in at the airport at the Verified to Fly counters.
Check in online and arrive early
During peak hours, economy class check-in for non-US flights opens four hours before departure and closes one hour before departure. Business class and First class check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. For US flights, check-in closes two hours before the flight.
When you travel to the United States
Benefit from the US Customs and Border Protection Facility (USCBP), which means all immigration and customs formalities will be completed in Abu Dhabi prior to departure. Guests must report to the USCBP facility no later than 90 minutes prior to departure.
Check the baggage allowance
The carry-on baggage policy is 7 kilograms for economy class and 12 kg for first and business class passengers. The maximum dimensions of cabin baggage are: height 50 cm, depth 25 cm and width 40 cm. You can also pre-purchase additional hold baggage at special pre-departure rates on the Etihad website or through the app.
The Business Class Lounge is available to customers wishing to enjoy Etihad’s premium hospitality before boarding. Customers traveling in Economy class can purchase Etihad lounge access. Entry is free for passengers traveling in premium cabins.
Check the flight schedule and departure terminal
In view of the significant increase in the number of passengers, Etihad Airways will move the check-in of economy class passengers on the following flights to Terminal 1:
- EY533 in Beirut (BEY) on July 14, 15, 16 and 17
- EY653 in Cairo (CAI) on July 14, 15, 16 and 17
- EY037 in Paris (CDG) on July 14, 15, 16 and 17
- EY73 in Zurich (ZRH) on July 14, 16 and 17
This to-do list should be handy for all Etihad travelers. Flyers from other airlines can do their job to prepare for the holidays.
