Kendra Scott will observe Mother’s Day as a corporate holiday | Business

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 18, 2022–
Today, Kendra Scott is announcing the “Take the Time” initiative, implementing company-wide paid leave for all company employees on the Monday following Mother’s Day (May 9).
Over the past year, parents have continued to feel the effects of the pandemic balancing full-time jobs with caring for their families. 40% of mothers are reported to have added more than 3 hours of daily care to their schedule. Recognizing that a mother can be defined in many different ways, corporate holidays aim to celebrate all supportive parenting and provide all employees with more time to spend with family, honoring their own parent figures as they see fit. and take quality time for themselves.
For the company-wide holiday, Kendra Scott’s head office will be closed on Monday, May 9. In accordance with its company vacation policy, retail and customer service employees as well as distribution center employees will be paid time and a half.
“Family comes first at Kendra Scott. This Mother’s Day, I wanted to provide a day for our employees to take the time to celebrate themselves and their families. Starting this year, we Declare Mother’s Day an annual Kendra Scott holiday, making time for recognition and celebration,” said Kendra Scott, Founder and Executive Chairman of the brand.
Kendra Scott started her business in 2002 with just $500 when her son was just three months old. Since then, her mission has been to use her platform to support other women. She founded her company on three core values: family, fashion and philanthropy, creating a brand and culture that believes giving back is the highest form of achievement.
The initiative follows the Kendra Scott Personal Leave Fund for Mother’s Day 2021, which provided $2,000 each to 50 mothers across the country to recognize a well-deserved leave and draw attention to the unpaid parental care that is so often overlooked.
As a brand, Kendra Scott supports women through various initiatives throughout the year, including the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at UT Austin, the Kendra Gives Back program (which allows community members to organize in-store events for important causes), the Kendra Scott Cares program (where the brand brings its customizable Color Bar ® to pediatric hospitals across the country); her work with Breast Cancer Awareness; and more.
