Video – Virtual tour of the Eden Geothermal drill

Eden Geothermal offers a fascinating virtual tour of the drilling platform at its operations based in Cornwall, UK.
Eden Geothermal has released a video of a virtual tour of the company’s drilling rig at its drilling operations in Cornwall, UK. The tour, led by drilling engineer Robbie Billsland and posted on the Exeter Science Center (ESC) YouTube channel, gives a fascinating account of the different parts of a drilling rig and how each contributes to drilling operations.
The video was produced as part of the ESC Live project which aims to involve young people aged 4 to 19 in learning about engineering and engineering careers, and to develop the skills of those involved in learning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The project was funded by the Engineering Education Grant Scheme.
The drilling of Eden Geothermal’s first well was completed in November 2021, as we announced. Since the last update, testing of the EG-1 well has resumed after a brief hiatus to respond to reports of microseismicity. The Bentec 450 Eurorig, as seen in the video, was instrumental in drilling the EG-1 well.
